I've never had the chance to fish for these bad boys before, so they're the target of choice for the opener. Anyone have any good spots for catching numbers of LM within an hour of Kanata? Hawgs would be nice but mostly I just want to catch some.
Maybe there's some boatless guys out there who would trade some know-how and a couple spots for a ride???

It's a great resource all around you Saskie...Ottawa River out of Rockland, Mississippi Lake in Carleton Place, the Rideau system at Kempville , Rideau Ferry, Kilmarnock....just about anywhere you go, you can catch some biggun's...but remember hold off till this coming weekend till bass season starts, then you can target them.

Saskie, you should give Petrie Island a shot. Manny and I have been fishing there for many years, and we've always had a lot of success. Most people are afraid of diging their props or damaging their boats, so most people dont target the good spots, therefore, lots of fish wating for you. The only recommendation I have is to go at a reasonable speed with your boat.
Usually, they will hit spinner baits, tipped with a plastic worm, and also carolina rig a tube jig, it works really well. I went out saturday morning for pike, and with 20 minutes, got 3 largemouths and a couple of pikes. Good luck.
