Since I'm going to catch the Ontario record Gar this week..... Does anyone know the proper channels to go through to get a catch verified. The record Muskie may even take my bait this year the way things are going and I want to be prepared.

I have no clue how to register a record??? If I lucked into something big I'd take it straight to the MNR office.
My buddy down the road has the record Blugill. I'll check with him to see what process he went through.

The OFAH has a booklet that explains the procedure. Not sure if the info. is available on-line.
If no one can find it I'll post the info. tonight.

I guess it would all depend who you want to register the fish with. I believe an Ontario record as to be reported to the MNR for inspection and registration. There is also the IGFA and the international freshwater fishing hall of fame for world records, once again I think the MNR should be contacted to verifie the catch but the fish must be reported directly to ether organisation and each as a different way to do things. I would suggest you look around the IGFA and IFFHOF website and the information should be listed. Here's the IGFA link
