There should be a mass of people out there this weekend with the warmer temps.
Watch the crowds they are sitting on the hot holes. Enjoy

No one told me about pike in Crappie Bay!!!!!
I had a nice fight with one until he broke off my 6 lb test line.
I thought there was only crappie there??????
I was out yesterday for a couple of hours in the afternoon.
A couple of nice perch and then the pike.
First time that I have used the Vex for more than just depths and I found it as addictive as a video game.
Seemed to be lots of fish looking at my minnow.
I needed a much more flexible rod (or those special tips that I left in the car) and then I might have seen the bites.

Super if you don't have a spring bobber you can always create a bit of a kink in your mono and when the kink straigns out set the hook. But the thing is with crappies sometimes they bite by lifting up the bait. a spring bobber will straighten out when the fish pushes up the bait. some ultralight rods will also show this with the tip.
Coyote has rang his bell a few times with pike in Crappy Bay.

THat is a lot better than I did on the Mississippi
We are entering a funny time of the year where the bite slows dramitically.
It will improve with time.

difficult fishing for sure!
I spent 5 hours each from the last 2 weekends and also took this wednesday off for another 5 hour stint and nothing for my efforts.
Spent all my time on Walleye Bay instead of Crappie Bay.
Usually I've had better and bigger size out of Walleye Bay but this year has been very tough.
I've used deadstick methods to jigging to darters to spoons and nothing is working.
Plan to keep trying by heading out again this weekend.
I'll be wearing my FH ballcap so stop by and say hi.
cheers,
Scott

One thing for sure is that the eyes are very light biters so far this year around Petrie. I watched a few on my Vex take 15 minutes to take the bait. They would follow it up but wouldn't commit.
One of them I tried 10 different lures , downsized, upsized and it finally hit on the first lure I had tried(buckshot) But it would come up 2 feet of bottom, stare at it and go back down.
I've had good numbers but no size to them at all so far.
