Jiffy Auger

Does any one know where the deals are for 3HP jiffy,s I have to purchase one for my work as our derby is coming and the one we had gave up after 25 years. Thanks Georges
P.S No techumseh as i heard they went bankrupt

I got the STX PRO II 3500 with a 10 inch bit. I couldn't find myself any deals.
It's a great auger even with all the "rumors" behind it. New engine, and composite Gearcase..... So far I'm happy with it.
I was using it when it was -49 'C and it ripped through the ice.
If you are looking for deals you might find one on the net....but paying duties and shipping on that will be a little bit more expensive.

I would still get a model 30 if you could the new ones are absolute crapola, you can expect a lifespan of 1/4 of the model 30 and thats if you're very lucky. I hear Tecumseh is still supplying parts anyway, but a 30 never needs hard parts.

On sale in the new Crappy Tire flyer. I have a 9" Legend Jiffy and I love it. If I had to do it over again, I would go smaller, 6 or 8 " just for the weight factor.

Bondo is there a big diff. in weight by going to a diff. size auger???
I went from a 2hp to a 3hp last year and I regret it now. That 3hp sure gets heavy after 10-12 holes.

I would think it would be 1 - 2 lbs heavier. Extra half inch of metal all the way down the auger. I just ordered the new e-z connect collar from Jiffy. Allows you to remove the auger from motor head for easier transport just by taking a pin out and pulling down on a collar (like on a drill driver). Also ordered the clam type auger head cover with a huge elastic all the way around. The auger head cover I have cracked and it was always a pain to put on at the end of the day with the long rubber bungee it came with.

Bondo the collar is a bit of a hassle, especially when it is real cold. that rubber collar gets a bit stiff. A lot of guys are using pins from Princess Auto to be able to do the same thing. I think that the pins are called PTO pins.

I usually leave it whole so it doesn't bother me much but if I had to take it apart everytime I would definetly go with the PTO pins.

Wallyboss ....... I have an older model jiffy 30 , about 20 years old and still works like a charm, do you think this type of pin would work on this older model

I am sure it would Bear. just remove the bolt that holds the auger part to the motor and replace with a same size PTO pin.
Look at this thread that BA just started and you will see an auger with the PTO pin.
