It has been a couple of years since the passing of John Dumouchel and I am just taking a moment thinking about how much John contributed to the Fishining Industry here in Eastern Ontario. He was a great multi species angler he excelled bass, walleyes, carp, catfish and probably the best crappie fisherman i ever met. John knew lakes and areas that few of us even have a clue about. He attained this knowledge by keeping constant records over 35 years writing down everything from colour, temperature, fishing companions. He was instrumental in bringing competitive angling to Ottawa and to all you guys out there that do the tournament circuits John helped start it . He supplied wholesale tackle to Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec (Dukes Lures) and was constantly looking for the latest greatest product to help the mom and pop shops be successful. He worked countless hours pro staffing for Daiwa, Lowrance to name a few. JohnnyD was a competitive guy that helped alot of anglers in this area, me being one of them. I shared alot of laughs over the years with John and so did many others. The Good old days of trade shows with the likes of Big Jim, Jim Heard , Jimmy Narraway, Wayne Butt,
Danny Courville, Mario, AndyX, Conrad, Glenn Merkley, Frank Papineau,
Frank Cabrelle to name a few. Tonight when I get home I am going to sit down and have a big Rum and thank Johnny D for all he contributed. You are missed John. Cheers

Jim, I'm with you on this I met John many years ago and put his first bass boat together for him and though I only fished once with him I did spend time with him at shows and tournaments.

A first class guy and angler and I do miss guys like him.

what a nice post silverlakejimmy. I still think of John every time I see a fishing rod, a bass boat, a carp net, bag of boillies, auger or anything in between. I moved in across the street from John in 1994 when I was 9 years old. He gave me my first real job a couple years later; packaging fishing lures.

I felt like the luckiest kid in the world. Making fishing tackle and working from my home! It was the best job I have ever had in my life. Soon John invited me to go fishing with him in his bass boat. I had never fished out of a nice boat like that ever before and I was instantly hooked!

I had always fished with my pop but John showed me EVERYTHING there was to know about fishing! (I'd be honoured if I knew 1/4 of what he did!) I feel very lucky to have fished with him for years after!

John was extremely knowledgeable about fishing and the outdoors and it was his passion. His passion became mine and has led me on the direction I am heading know. Because of John, I have found so much joy in the outdoors with fishing and hunting.

John was definitely a huge inspiration in my life and I think about him daily. He truly is, in my eyes, a legend and i will never forget him.

And to John; THANKS! I know you're up sittin on shore with your feet up relaxing, waiting for the bite alarm to start beeping!!!
