muskrat lake (cobden)

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I can't speak for Muskrat, but today we were fishing on 18" of hard solid ice at a local Zone 18 lake... actually, the ice was harder to hand auger than last weekend. ATVs were all over the lake... though mine stayed on land...Being careful, but my ice season sure isn't over yet...

The ice was really noisy today - popping and snapping once the sun came up, which is usually a good sign. Quiet ice is soft ice...

I'm betting that Muskrat still has lots of solid ice... leave the car or ATV on shore...

Until we get rain.....most non-current areas ice will be unaffected by this weather.....where I fished yesterday the ice didnt budge at all this week.....

We may get 2 more weeks yet!

Was out on muskrat lake yesterday all day. There was still quite a few vehicles on the lake still .

There was still a quite a bit of ice, but I would leave vehicles on shore. With the warm weather yesterday and in the forcast ice conditions can change quickly. BE CAREFUL.

Fairly productive day caught 5 pike ranging in sizes from 1lb to 3.5lb. All fish were caught in a time frame from around 9:00 A.M to around 12:00 A.M.

As the day went on more and more shacks were being pulled off the ice.

Good luck and be safe.

Went out to muskrat all day sunday, there was still lots ice where we were(18-20"). Lost track of how many perch we caught. What great weather for icing. No gloves touque or jacket even. Not sure how long we have but I'd would be leaving my vehicle on shore from here on in just to be sure. Just good to get out in this weather.
