Thinking of buying a house in the Constance Bay - Buckhams bay area. I don't know anything about how the fishing is along that stretch of the river. Can anyone tell me how good the opportunities are for smallmouth, largemouth, walleye, and musky? Not looking for hotspots cause I'll find my own if I move there, but I would appreciate knowing a little more as it will be a big factor in the decision to move. Thanks guys

Hello, I live right on the water in Constance Bay and consider myself a fishing enthusiast, but mybe not the greatest actual fisherman.
In short, you can catch everything on the Ottawa, I know that Musky is world class if you can get into one, but monsters come from there.
Walleye fishing is typical, in that if they are bitting and you have a good spot, the fishing is great, if they are off, it is slow. Fitzroy dam is a good bet early in the spring and is a easy ride from C- Bay in a boat.
Bass fishing is great generally.
In short, I love living here and find the fishing to be what you put into it. If you fish alot and have some skill I think you would do very well.
And lots of ice fishing. Generally the water is a bit cleaner as it is upriver from downtown Ottawa.

Thanks Mcnaughtdu,
We hope to look at waterfront as well. I don't really mind so much if fishing isn't stellar, but if I have a reasonable chance to find fish when I venture out, then that works for me.

Great area for everything! I have seen muskies over 50", gar over 54", lots of bass, pike, pickerel, cats, you name it!
I don't get out into that area much now but there is a lot of great fishing and a lot of good water you can cover!

If you want waterfront in that area be prepared to pay a fair buck.
The fishing is great, I have caught everything from Mud puppies to 50" Muskies. The only thing i have not caught so far is Sturgeon.
Nice beaches at Constance, Mohr island and McLarens. Beer and liquor store in constance as well as couple of restaurants and of course the Gavan hotel In Quyon.
During the Country jamboree in Quyon you can fish by the power lines and listen to live music at the same time!

Ahhhh Gavan's...Have some good foggy memories of that place

...Nothing like thinking you are still on the beach to find out you are actually 4ft in the river

My folks lived on the water in Constance Bay for a few years and I have been fishing the bay for many years. Lots of small walleye but you have to work to find the big ones. Good bass and pike fishing as well. Get yourself a depth map at the World of Maps and explore. Be careful when boating as there are several shallow rocky areas in the bay. These spots make for good starting points to target!
