Hello all,

Over the years I have enjoyed this website's attachment to realism and commonality amongst the every day anglers from every niche.

My particular niche or "interest" is bass fishing, tournament bass fishing to be more accurate.

This season, as it turns out, plans to be very different for me.

I will not be fishing out of 20' bass boat.
I have no partner.
I have no sponsors.
I will have no "practice" time.

What I do have is a very common 14' tin boat with a great live well.
A video camera apparatus.
Some very basic objective writing skills.
And a very unique plan to tie all these together in hopes of editing a documentary where as I attempt to win the 2010 SEBO championship.

Oh yeah, I do have one more secret weapon. The Fishhawk Message Threads and all the great information and knowledge shared from this site. Of which I plan to directly use in shaping my game plan for tournament action.

This experiment will hopefully demonstrate how well a weekend warrior with the bare essentials and a F.H. account, stacks up against weekend "pro" anglers with all the gadgetry and equipment known to man, and bass.

If I were to attempt something along these lines, would anyone be interested, or is it just a waste of time for me and anyone who remotely cares.

Just a thought, I'm probably gonna do it anyways, but I would like some input just the same as your ideas could go along way in making this little personal project a reality.

You are far from a weekend warrior Trevor.

The only thing that has changed from last year would be the boat you'd be in...and you seemed to always do ok as a "pro" as you call it....

Can it be donein a 14'?....absolutely.

You'll be missed at Renegade this year....you were a breath of fresh air.....well usually it was fresh...

My first tournament wins...er Ah....first three wins in an 11.5 foot Thornes aluminium tin can...used to put rocks in the bow to hold her down and back around with just an electric...

Funny how my boats seem get smaller every year or two now ...still catch as many fish though.

Wow how it all changed in a few years.

IMHO being limited to a smaller playing field makes you work that extra bit harder and makes find the " spot on the spot".

It's a cool idea. You'll be like a "sleeper" - without the bigger boat and sponsor wear, nobody will realize you are fishing the tourny until you take their money!

Only concern I have is your safety on bigger waters... a 14' can be scary when the wind kicks up 3' waves... I hope you have good weather on tournament dates.

I can't say I have not thought of the same thing. I am in the process of turning my little tinny into a one man fishing machine. The only problem I have seen is that when I have read the rules of various fishing tournaments, there is a minimum boat size that they seem to stipulate; 14 feet. My little guy is 13.5 feet long(short).

The other thing is proof of insurance... I ask my insurance company about insurance on my boat and after the agent talking to various managers... they said that I am covered with my home policy. I suppose they were scratching their heads when I told them that the boat and motor package might have been worth $1000 with a full tank of gas! The personal liability is part of my home insurance... apparently. How would I prove that to tourney officials?

Back to your plan... I LOVE IT!

I have long thought that these fishing shows display equipment that is WAY out of my pay scale that is just not realistic for a guy like me. I would love to see a fishing show with a couple of guys in a tinny and a 15 or 20 hp OB going around to local lakes and just fishing. No offense intended to those around here who have managed their education and personal wealth better than I...

For me... watching Izumi or Dance... fishing out of boats that cost more than our two cars (an '04 Imp and '10 Corolla) put together... is like watching porn... or Driving TV where they drive Mercedes and Jaguars... just never going to happen for me.

So to watch a guy using the same equipment as me in similar waters shooting at the big boys... that would be amazing!!!!

All the power to you!!! If you need a camera boat one day... let me know! I would be honored. I have production and camera man experience.

Interesting? Yes. I'd follow along for sure.

That being said....

Considering the vast experience you have on our local waters and also considering the statements you've made on this site about your tournament wins and thousands of dollars in winnings....

I'd hardly consider you an average weekend warrior with the bare essentials

Well, I've been reading/following posts... but I'm really not an ice-fisherman. Even with all the success people (you!) have had this year, I'm just not comfortable enough on the ice. So yeah... I hibernate a little bit.

If you'd like to do any this year and are looking for someone to fish with, let me know! Or, if you just want to get out one day/evening and can't find someone else to go... you know how/where to reach me!! I've already got two weekends in May lined up for fishing... trout in early May... and pike/walleye May 2-4 weekend!

Now... I just have to get myself a canoe/kayak...

The boat doesn't catch any fish that are weighed in. What a high-powered bass boat allows one is options. Best of luck, Trevor I'm sure that you'll do fine!
