Kayak help

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Kayak help

Post by Trophymuskie »

Now that we'll be living on the water I'll need some kind of on water entertainment for the kids. Kayaks look like they could fill the bill better then canoes.

My question is where can I find some good priced used ones that can be used for fun but also be used to fish out of.

Naturally with moving expenses and everything including my new boat lift and docks there may be very little left for the purchase of toys.

MAN O MAN.

first musky in kayak is a trip by itself bud..... 8)

ok first you are not the smalles guy... ..like me.

and you are in a big bay area so..wind and bigger waves then most off us areas.

right now you can get a free copi off kayak angler..all models are in there or most off them.in some kayak store like float paddle and fly..and trailheads.

used ottowa
kijiji
creglist
lespac.com
cavendre

few off the site where you can find used ones.

all store have demos to or old renters at great price.

not all kayak will do for you like for me...the best way for you it would be to try them before.

i have no prob for you to try mine.anytime bud.

sit on tops are fun in summer time and are easy to go back on if you flip that is the best thing about them.safety...but they are colder in cold conditon.wind etc.

dont forget the expense for the rest.

paddles...safety kits..etc...to carrty them like racks etc..mabe not you are right on the waters so.

there a place near you in hawksbery that as some few models..mabe a chek it out.just beside the big bridge.ont side...

or float paddle and fly or trailhead..orjenda or there so many place that sale kayaks now.

if you are not in a hurry..ther tons off deals on used or demos etc.

if you tell me what you want i can sherly find someting for you.

is it for fishing only or use for kids and fun paddle etc.?

very kayak is good....but not just for everbody and very type off use.

sit on tops are usely the best for all size off poeple kids to bigger man.

example a sit on top wilderness tarpon 120 is a great all around kayak to swim frome in the middel off the river you can flip it go back on it..etc.

sit in usely if you flip you will have to go back to shore to get back in it and empty it..like a cnaoe kind off.

sit on top..almost all off them have scupper hole..meening..all water that goes in goes out by those holes...moset very stabile..sit sideway legs in water or even on some fish stand up..

i tell you wen you will try one you like you will love it.

plus its a great exercise plus it can become a great familly thing.

could get few more and get all the familly in that sport..little trip on the river are great.

one thing is sher wen i will be near youin that camping i will go for some ski patrol not far frome you and accross.the river for someaction..if there action..  ..but you sher have a great spot for that sport.

and there always onother option that will open for you over there.wit kayaks. 8)

A thumbs up from Frontenac Outfitters from me too. I bought two Tarpon 100s from them in 2008. I was hoping for a 120 and a 100 but the 120s were already sold out.

Thanks it looks like it's going to be a complicated thing. LOL

Now that the house has been sold in just a few days I may just find some time to start shopping for stuff.

Trophymuskie,

Since you have the time, here's something to help you understand, and see beyond marketing talk:

http://ftlauderdaleyakfishingclub.org/ EXCELLENT site.

One of my personal favorites, still in production, is Ocean Kayak Prowler 13, very decent kayak for the money, every owner loves it, good for a big guy (I assume you are the one in your avatar), and local stores as Jenda PS and Bushtuckah carry it.

I would take the reviews on the www.paddling.net with a grain of salt.
Do your own research, try some kayaks, and choose wisely.
