Hello all,
I'm wondering if anyone has fished Lake Simard in Quebec. A freind of mine is going bear hunting at Grassy Narrows Camp in June and I was considering tagging along for some fishing since I don't hunt. Any opinions on the type/quality/quantity of fish would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Fred

Hi
Although I have not fished Lake Simard, I have a week trip planned there for late June.
I have done some research, and it appears that Pike, SM Bass and Walleye are it's strengths.
The Walleye don't get past 5.5 lbs I hear, but some monster pike can be found, and the smallmouth bite quite readily. Looking at the satellite image of Simard and the other 2 legs that run to the West from it, if you went fron one end of the western leg through the 2nd leg and then across the fairly round shape of Lake Simard... in a straight line.... it is 45 miles total !
That's alot of ground to cover. I have a Tracker that will do 37mph so no problem for me, but in a small 14' with a 9.9 you'll be a bit restricted as far as how much ground you can cover.
If you like Pike fishing , take a good supply of 4" long Blue back, silver or white bottom Husky Jerk Rapala's.... they love those things.... and trolling with Buzz baits is a blast... the Pike come up and smash them right out of the water behind the boat when trolling.
Hope this helps.
If you are going before me, please post your results.
Thanks

Mach1steve,
It looks like we will not be making a trip to Lake Simard this summer. My buddy will be there for a bear hunt but we will not be tagging along. Hope you have a great trip. Post something when you get back so I know how you did.
Thanks
Fred
