I am hoping to go to limestone this easter weekend and camp for a night or 2, provided the ice is out. Just wondering, is there crown land around the lake ? More importantly, are there bears around there ?

Yes and yes.
Limestone is surrounded by crown land, and there are lots of bears around the area. BUT, you don't need to be too concerned.
Just keep a clean site, cook at least 200ft from your tent and store your food in a bear bag. Don't sleep in the clothes you cooked in.
I've done lots of camping in Quetico, had bears turn over stones at night digging grubs, 10ft from the tent... they don't bother you if you take necessary precautions. The most dangerous bears are the ones people feed. Wild unfed bears are more scared of you than you are of them - a lot like an overgrown racoon... opportunistic garbage cans ...

May be just me, but I think that you will be lucky to have open water by next wknd. Drove past Muskrat today and it is still fairly tight to shore. Also have been riding 4 wheelers in the Calabogie/Mountain Chute area within the last couple weeks and the water there seems to be in the same condition. I could be wrong....but if it were me, I wouldn't bank on it by then.

I seen the biggest bear in my life just down the road from there at the dump, about 5 years ago. There was as many as 12 bear in the dump at any time. All of them were large bears.
