1rst bullheads outing of the season

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

1rst bullheads outing of the season

Post by baz fish »

Today I decided to go and wet a line for some bullheads on the Nation river arrived at my usual spot and stay there for over an hour and I had a couple of bites but no taker then I moved to another place and caught 4 bullheads. Still lots of currents but in another couples of days they should be in full swing. Probabbly going again tomorrow and all weekend and maybe some crappy to in the agenda.

Might see me there on Friday.
I know I'll be fishing the Nation but have not decided on the section yet. Never fished it this early in the year...

Is there a special way to cook bullheads because I kept a dozen and filleted them and their flesh tasted like mud. I dissapointed because I kept them on the advice of a fisherman there. If you fisherman are interested in fishing bullhead and would like a closer location there is bullhead in mud lake by britania. There is literally thousands of them in there at this time of year. feel free to go give it a try and you will will soon find out what I mean.

we cook them in a frying pan with garlic butter, thats about it, they taste good like that, it might be the area your catching them in that is making them taste bad, try the nation river pout

always nice to hear you're out and catching some fish, Baz.

Do you eat the bullheads you catch? I always assumed they would be tasty like catfish, but I guess maybe not. Or at least dependent upon where you are catching them, as Nips is saying.
