do you guys think lakers opening will be deferent this year.

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

hi all.

frome what i am seeing now and the wetaer coming..the ice on some lakes will be out faster then usual.

i love to fish the first and seconde weekend.off the opening..usely its good..almost on surface.

but sometime water is even to cold...but this year if the ice goes out 2 week ahead off time and tem is hot might bring the trout deaper faster.

will see i gues it will all depend the weater to.

Joco: It's gotta be better than last year's opener. I was on Pemichangan for the first Friday (opening day), and the trout were so deep, you could troll for them. All the good trolling spots were cluttered with anchored boats that were jigging.

Worst case scenario: we'll have to use Penn rods/reels to get to 40 feet...

I'll be there again this year.

Hey Joco

I will be on Big Cedar. Usually the lakes start to get going two weeks after ice out. In the past couple of years the ice has stayed almost to the opening. So I think the opening weekend this year, the lakes will be in full swing.

The trout were deep last year at opening as someone mentioned but moved shallower in the following weeks. Greys are easy to catch once you figure out where they are. Which of course is the hard part.

I think it depends more on how stable the weather will be leading into opener. If we can get a good few days of constant weather, it should be great, no matter when the ice comes off. A few days of mixed weather will scatter the fish and probably send them deep earlier.
I didn't fish for lakers last year but I got laker fever this year!!!

It'll be all about water temps....if it stays like this for weeks...(+20) it'll have them moving to summer areas earlier without a doubt.....but I highly doubt this weather will stay.....

I expect to find them right where I left them last opener...

Smokers' ready and waiting...........

Might be dangling a line for lakers this weekend......or browns........or crappies....or "mud cats".........as we call them back home........ too many options for so early in the spring!!
