Walleye fishing Sat and Sunday

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Walleye fishing Sat and Sunday

Post by JimW »

First time out fishing in awhile this weekend.

Saturday

I hit Upper Rideau Lake with a buddy looking for walleye. We fished from 6am to 11:30am. We trolling...jigged...drifted....but not a walleye to be found. :(

On one shoal we were fishing we did find some decent panfish, mainly Pumpkinseeds. Not walleye but kept a few, made for a nice dinner. The largest ones were almonst 10" long.

Sunday

Hit Mississippi Lake with another buddy today in search of walleye again. Fished from about 8 am to 4pm. We trolled...jigged....drifted....casted...but no walleye.

We did get 1 smallie, about 6 small pike, a couple perch and 14 of these.

The largest 4 were over 13" and made a great dinner. :D

Hopefully better luck with the walleye next time.

Nice haul of crappie for sure.

Was out on the Miss today from 2-7PM and tried everything except jigging but couldn't get the eyes to cooperate. Marked lots in the 14-18ft range and lots were hugging the bottom so me thinks they were eyes.

Moved in for some crap-eyes but could not locate any. Manged gills and seeds; about 40 or so before my 7yr old boy gave in and asked to go home.

No meals today but he had a blast so much that his wrist was sore from reeling. :)

Too bad plan A didn't work out.

Looks like you have some good eating there with plan B.

Thanks for the report and pics.

That's is good for a few tasty feeds. Sometimes I'd rather have a feed of those than a feed of walleyes.
When hell freezes over, I'll be there icefishing!!!

Thanks guys.

Definitely a couple good feeds, just as good as walleye, just more cleaning :)
