Hey everyone,
Hope everyone had some good opening weekend fishing luck. I will be heading out to do some fishing on White lake , On. this weekend. Just wondering if anyone has been out there yet this year, and could possibly share some info on water levels, weed growth, fishability? Just hoping I can be prepared and maybe have some help finding success on "my" opening weekend.
I appreciate any info shared. Good luck everyone!

I'm heading up for cottage opening this coming weekend as well, so I'll have a report next week when I'm back. I'll be going for Pike and Wally's.

Water levels are fine this time of year on WL, you won't have to worry (just keep away from Gull island, west of Kitty Island/town of White Lake end...). Weeds always seem to start early since the water isn't very deep across most of WL. I'm sure you'll be able to locate some decent fish. Tip: fish at dusk/evening this time of year for great bullhead action and walleye off shore points!

I'll be heading up too for some Pike and Wally's (and Perch?). Don't know how I'm going to avoid the bass... release them and move on is the plan.

I'll be curious to hear how you guys do. :-)

i should be out on white lake some time this weekend......

havent been out yet either but im gonna employ some of the strategies i picked up last year.

iwas at my friends cottage and the water level actually looks kinda high, this being said i imagine the fishing should still be great!

Weekend of fishing

So, just got home from White Lake this afternoon after a good weekend there. Thought I would give a little report on my fishing outings. The weather was a little windy over both Saturday and Sunday, with today being the most calm. I found a few calm bays, adjacent to the main lake channels and tried them out. Landed a 2.5 LM bass (oops, released) and about a 3.5 lb walleye! That was cool (released). Funny, seems more and more these past couple of years they seem more abundant....

Sunday fished from the cottage shoreline as well as from boat, and got two pike (which I was hoping for). They were only in the 2.5/3 lb range, so nothing big but they were mad boyo! Caught a few more small bass and the odd perch, but not much else (all released). Today, I only had the moring to fire out a few baits, so I headed to a bay that I knew produced in the past and nailed a nice 4 lb pike right off of a weed point. He jammed me right in a weed patch, which I proceeded to drag to the boat (my hats off to braided line once again..)

All and all it was a good time. The water wasn't low considering the time of year but warm, and the weeds are already poking out of the surface in the normal locations. I think the bigger fish have already gone deep, but I happened to find some decent ones. I wish I had more time on the water, but the heat of the day really turned things off most afternoons. the normal weekender boat traffic and fishing boats were out in full force though, so the pressure is already on! I guess we're all pent up and can't wait to get out there!!!
