Hi,

first post here, been reading for a couple of months and thought it would be time to join.

I'm going to Christie Lake for the long weekend.

weather seems hot and sunny.

Pike and walleye are supposed to be present in this lake. I've never targeted walleye and have never caught one by accident either. i have targeted pike a couple of times and have had some nice catches. I mostly fish for bass when that season comes in effect.

I have done enough reading on walleye to know what kind of lure to use, but i'm wondering what depth they are at around this time of year and if any of you know any good spots on Christie.

as far as pike goes. Trolling large spoons and crankbatis always seemed to work. just looking for any good spots over there. What do you guys think of a large spoon with a leader and a minnow attached? tought it wuld be something new to try. that might be interesting

I am not sure i am the one that you should be listening too but i fished this lake morning and night this last weekend. I didnt have much luck finding the pike they are not where they should be, and talking to some of the guys at the marina ( friendly bunch they should point u in the right direction) they were having trouble too, but with this warm weather who knows if where i found them is where they are still going to be . Anyways i found them in 10 -12 ft breaklines with weeds, ( there is a triangle of bouys across from the marina that worked for me aswell as a bunch of rocks just by the marina if the fish are still there work similiar structure, if not try the mouth of the tay river. As for thoose eyes try off of big island (its the actual name) and around it there are alot of good holes, try white, greens, yellows are good this time of year.

Hopefully this helps, but like i said talk to the guys at the marina they should help you out! I am no expert i only fished that lake once and that was this last weekend, the water temps were around 57 and super clear and like everywhere down a couple of feet

Good to know that the locals are super friendly i'll be sure to have a c ouple of wobbly pops with them, it's always nice to know the different tactics that go on on different lakes.

i grew up on the south shore of christie lake down near the boys camp.

i have seen the pike and pickeral on the lake go from good to bad to worse and to almost non existant in my 34 years.

the lake has very heavy pressure on it so finding nice pickeral is gonna be hard to do.

and while the folks are friendly out there i find there is still a back woods attitude when it comes to slot sizes and limits.

its too bad too in the den at my folks is a big pike mounted from that lake that my grandfather caught in the 50's its over 3 feet long.

so have fun on christie! if you wanna find a nice spot where chances are good go find railroad bay and bald island is just out from there...... good chances there!

I've always had luck with Pike in spring on that lake ....... I used a crank bait in 5-8 ft of water. For Walleye ...... did I ever have trouble catching them......... tried for 2 days straight and only managed to catch one so there extremely hard to locate and catch. Go to the islands and drift around them with a jighead and minnow.
