So, just got home from White Lake this afternoon after a good weekend there. Thought I would give a little report on my fishing outings. The weather was a little windy over both Saturday and Sunday, with today being the most calm. I found a few calm bays, adjacent to the main lake channels and tried them out. Landed a 2.5 LM bass (oops, released) and about a 3.5 lb walleye! That was cool (released). Funny, seems more and more these past couple of years they seem more abundant....

Sunday fished from the cottage shoreline as well as from boat, and got two pike (which I was hoping for). They were only in the 2.5/3 lb range, so nothing big but they were mad boyo! Caught a few more small bass and the odd perch, but not much else (all released). Today, I only had the moring to fire out a few baits, so I headed to a bay that I knew produced in the past and nailed a nice 4 lb pike right off of a weed point. He jammed me right in a weed patch, which I proceeded to drag to the boat (my hats off to braided line once again..)

All and all it was a good time. The water wasn't low considering the time of year but warm, and the weeds are already poking out of the surface in the normal locations. I think the bigger fish have already gone deep, but I happened to find some decent ones. I wish I had more time on the water, but the heat of the day really turned things off most afternoons. the normal weekender boat traffic and fishing boats were out in full force though, so the pressure is already on! I guess we're all pent up and can't wait to get out there!!!

I'm wondering the same. I caught one in the main part of the lake when you leave White Lake Marina a few years ago, but that apparently is the wrong side of the lake for Walleye.

Sure, I'll share info on what I was using. The flavour of the day was definitely small/medium size crankbaits, with the smaller versions getting the lion's share of the swipes and slashes, as well as the ones I landed (match the hatch I'm sure, early = small). I was loaded with three rods, one baitcaster with a medium/large crank, one baitcaster with a spinnerbait, and a spinning rig with a small crank. Everything was hitting on black/grey back - white/silver belly small crankbaits. The bass I got was on a superspot lipless crank, along with two of the pikes. The walleye: black/silver "mini big-O" shape I can't remember who makes it though, it's a little old. Got him close to shore, rocky bottom, in a calm bay.

I got a lot of slashes on chartreuse/gold leaf and White/silver leaf spinnerbaits, but all follows and no takers. Got a few bass from shore on topwaters trying for pike, right at dusk. Really, everything was the same overall classic baitfish pattern though, dark back/light bottom 3" slim, or 2" fat crankbaits.....cheers!
