No plans Were made for 2day.

woke up took it EASY.

Steph wanted to go get tanned.

So we decided to go fishing and tanning. sound like a saturday plan.... :D

We get to The pike lake at 11 am . clouds clear the sky and sun shine is toasting stephs skin to a beautifull brown! 8)

Image

We do are usual rounds with spinnerbaits and still the Finiky pike are just fallowing the lure. :x

Well i know were the pike hang out in this erea So i decide to Switch it up a little bit.

SWIMBAITS FOR THE WIN!

Image

Again As Rob mentionned in my other pike report.

AGAIN he was right and AGAIN this site has though me something NEW.

I cast on shore and as im twiching the bait. im trying to replicate a dying rock bass. A stop and go action.

This swim bait sinks when you stop and comes back up in a radical way as you twich it.

The first one hits. The flash of the pike blinds me!

Image

come here you little tootty rascal! :D

Image

Quik unhook for you.

Image

The way this pike T-Boned the lure. and no fallow just a plain old simple BA-BA-BANG! 8)

I cast a bay that is known to produce.

nothing..... but this bay has a deep weed bed in her.

15-20 FOW.

last report i got a 10 lbs pike trolling with these.

Image

and casting with this slightly modified northam perch patern scored me some sweet rockets also!

Image

So we leave the erea trolling and 100 + cast's.

stephs not used to fishing heavy lures so she takes a break.

Little does she know im sneaking up to a Shallow cabbage bay.

Cast the Swimbait and twitch this sucker twice. THUMP! what seem like a light hit.

becomes something out of the ordinary.

Image

I open my eyes and see this thing come towards the boat. HOLY.

Sadly it was a D.O.S........ Death On Strike.

See here as the pike bleeds her way thru the fight.....

Image

No remorce tho. The Whole family has been begging me for pike fillets. 8)

Image

Image

This pike weight's in at 9lbs and some change and will be the only one that was put on the scale. it was already dead anyways.

This day is comming to fast to an end as steph is BURNT and her wrist is BROKEN in half.

i talk her in For one last Bay! :D

This was a wise decision.

We are slowly drifting in what i call pike bay # 231....

and im asking...... telling... SCREAMMING ... im on my KNEES .

Steph PLEASE cast right here. im pointing a drop off that produced so many fish.

she looks at me and says . WHAT ARE YOU DEATH ???

My arm is falling off you blind  !

in the back of my head im like....................

SCOREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Cast in the same lure thats been fooling the gators.

first cast nothing.... no probleme.

like i said we were drifting and the wind was gainning momentum.

when it comes to ALIGATORZ i love WIND.

Second cast.

a mini . tick. set the hook..... hey something is wrong here.

the fish is keeping 15 FOW and i cant see whats on my line.

As im looking deep. and the fish is rising. i fall on my

BEAST!!!! MONSTER!! HOG!! a seriouse PIG... WHAT A BRUTE!!!

Image

Image

Perfectly hook and no blood was shed....

what a great way to end the day.

Oh yeah..... we left at 2 PM.......IN YOUR FACE THE NEPIGEON!

Beauties, I for sure would have guessed over 10lbs for those pike. Love your big toothy reports.

Interesting patterns on them big ones. Their spots seem to grow in bars...very cool, almost european looking pike.

Nice specimens dude!

A little tip that I can give on the exact bait you used:

Remove the bottom treble hook. This will allow you to fish/swim the bait more effectively in and around vegetation and other cover without getting hooked up on things other than fish. Also it will keep away smaller fish that just chomp on the tail and less hooks deep when the fish, like in your pics eat the bait. Less mortality for sure.

Cheers!

relic now that you point that out your right.

unique patern for sure.

the local say that the pike were put in the lake.

20 years back there was no pike .....

but there was lakers.

now the lakers are gone and the pike are bigger than ever.

smallies were always there i think.
