Lac Vert-Val Des Bois

After sifting through a series of "hornet's nest" threads from a year or so ago about a Lac Vert in the Val Des Monts area, I'm now fairly certain that there are 2 Lac Vert's out there.

The one that I am wondering about is the Lac Vert located closer to Val Des Bois.

We are booking a cottage up there for a week and I am wondering what the fishing is like and what kind of species I might encounter.

I see that it is a "no motor boat" lake, so I plan to use an electric trolling motor mostly.

Any advice or insight will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

Although Lac Vert is not large by any means, there is a tiny lake that is called petit Lac Vert. It is two minutes from the "larger lake".
Was lucky enough to almost drown there last year. ....Ask me what I think of Kayaks. Ok...maybe I had a few.....
There are cottages to be rented on both lakes. I do think that motors are allowed in the larger lake. If that is indeed the case, you might as well leave the gear at home. I managed to see one bass in the week and it was in the 1 pound range.
I think he was lost...... :?
Anyway, the inlaws rented the place. It was on Laporte rd.
If you check google maps you will see it. It is about half a click east of the bigger lake.

I did hear that there were supposed to be pike in there, but never saw anyone catch anything.

Hi,

I was up there in early May. Not a ton of fishing was done (bachelor party at a cottage there), but we did put in some time on Lac Vert (not petit lac vert).
Bass were OOS, but one was caught (smallie). We were targetting trout, but caught none. We did see a bunch of largies gathered up tight to a fallen tree (crystal clear water, distinct stripe down the side and black tail end). So, I'll say there are both types of bass in there.
I hear there are nice trout there, but again, we caught none. There was also a tourney there the Saturday we were there, and apparently not a single fish was caught for the tourney. Got that info from a local who was at the bar that night.

Sorry... not much help... but that's all the info I got.

Oh... and there's a Mepps Black Fury up in a tree on the west side of the lake.

cheers,
tallpaul

Caught 1 pike- 2lbs, but it looked like 20lbs after seeing nothing for 4 days.

Nice weather though!

Not a good year for trout, I'm afraid. It could also be a dead lake! This time of year hit and miss comes into play!

Sorry to hear that... but thanks for the report. It is nice to see when someone follows up on a thread like this.

Sometimes... it is ok just to wash all your tackle.
