Awesome Trout

well Steady Eddy took the open seat today. He had never caught a Lake Trout before. That changed in a big way today. We left the launch at 4pm and the water was rough with a west wind. Just how I like it. 10 minutes in and Steady Eddy lands his first Laker, a nice 3 lb'er. Into the livewell it goes. I'm next up and i land another, this time a runt 2lb'er. Well Eddy decided that we needed bigger ones so he lands this nice 8 lb'er Image
I couldn't let the newbie beat me at my own game so I hauled in this awesome PB 14lb'er. Steady Eddy was a pro with the net. Image
Steady Eddy tried his best to beat me but he got another one of 7 lbs. Image
The sun was hot but the fishing was hotter. And Steady Eddy got to take a couple Lakers home for a feast. This was an awesome day

Great looking fish!!

Nice jobs gents...

What were you using for lures? How deep were the fish? What was the water temp?

This inquiring mind wants to know!

Thanks!

well the water temp is irregardless cause the depthfinder show 70F at the surface, we were at 40 ft using a hammered silver williams whitefish.

How big were the whitefish? I have spoons that are a few different sizes... never sure what size to go with. Does bigger spoon give you bigger trout?

you can ask Steady Eddy, no one else was catching any. just because they fish doesn't mean they are catching. it took me a long time to figure out how to fish there.
