I'm brand new to this site and have had my boat now for about 4 years.
I'm looking for new fishing spots to try in the Southern Ontario area....not the Great Lakes...
I've tried Belwood, Conestoga and Scugog...any suggestions anyone can make would be appreciated..along with what types of fish to target on the new bodies of water.

Thanks :)

Big clear is nearby and has Bass, Walleye, Lake Trout, Musky, Pike, Perch, Sunfish and also Balsam which has bass walleye Musky pike and panfish. Other than those two you have 30 other lakes around the area. Try searching google maps in the Kawartha area and you will get the name of a few more.

Good luck!

Oh ok cool.

Since you're so close to Guelph I'd go hit up Guelph Lake. I think the entry per person for boats/fishing is like $5.

They'll be able to tell you where the launches are (I think there are 3 different ones)

There's plenty of smallies and largemouth and a suprising amount of pike. My sisters fiance caught a 27 inch largemouth there a few weeks ago.
It's just a small lake, but it's a pretty good time.

Also, they don't allow gasoline engines on the lake....so troller or paddles

May not be as great as Big Clear....but it's certainly an option

You can try...

Pefferlaw Creek just off Lake Simcoe. Launch from Anns place and go north to the marina. Fish in the weeds in the long run past the marina (last one before Simcoe running beside Irving Drive) and you will get Bass, Pike, crappie and cat fish. You can also travel down the fork beside the golf course.

Holland River, just north of Bradford and can be reached using Alberts Marina off Bathurst St (I suggest this Marina for the owner is nice when you approach her nice). You will catch cat fish, Bass, Pike and crappie. Pulled a 4 pound L mouth out of there last year with no problem.

Great thing is that the Holland River is not fished that much by boat so you can get into a lot of virgin area if you try. Of course both lead to Lake Simcoe if you want to try your luck there as well.

A 27" largie would go 15lbs plus, shattering the current record by up to 50% Tell him his story smells of rotting carp.

Have you tried the Grand River? There are some great trout spots around Elora and Rainbows near Waterdown. I'm not 100 percent certain if a boat would fit though...haven't been there in years.

No 27 inch largies either.
One typo and everyones all over ya eh
