I thought this morning that I might introduce my 3 year old, Owyn, to fishing. So, off to Canadain Tire we went.... one Spiderman Rod and a 1 shelf tackle box (more for treats than lures at this point) and a quick stop at the bait shop then we were off.
At the Wendover Launch as soon as I got there I saw a school of bass about 8 feet out. Helped him cast his worm and hook and he immediately caught his first fish, a smally. He spent the rest of the morning catching little rock bass and one black crappie (which I have never personally caught hahaha). He DID NOT want to leave to go home and eat lunch. I am guessing we're going back again tomorrow..... he wants to catch the big pike I caught!

Sweet deal. That young man is lucky to a have a father like you. Heres to many more years of your father-son outings.

As I sit here expecting our first child any day now, and thinking back to the time spent with my father fishing, I vote this the feel good post of the year. Those are memories that will last a life time
Thanks for sharing
P.S. I already have a pink "fisher girl" rod in the garage

Sniff... I wish me pop would have taken me out... instead I go to go to porno drive-inns in upstate NY.
Nice job! You won't regret getting him into the fish! Mom will appreciate it too.
Great looking family time.

That's awesome
Stay with it, kids loose interest easy
But I kept fishig with my oldest boy and now he is 10 and can put on a clinic. I got my 6 year old his first bass and first pike this summer but from experience I know I have to keep him interested.
