I'm going fishing on Thursday with a buddy of mine. We're stuck shore fishing for the day and he suggested going to Mud Lake.

Are there actually fish there? Or big waste of time?

Even if there are just little pannies I'm happy with that

I have never caught anything there, but thats not to say there isn't anything there. maybe its me? lol.

If you dont mind getting a bit wet.... continue down the road that mud lake is on towards the filtration plant. There's a spot to park your car and you can access ottawa river there. It is way to shallow at that point but wade out a bit towards end of the rapids there should be SMB for sure.

there is also dick bell and andrew haydon parks and a big point by the nepean sailing club just up the road from there.

If you end up going anywhere in these areas do me a favour and post a report. I would like to know how the fishing is.

Best of luck!

I fished mud lake and would like to tell you the truth on this matter. Only in the spring the fishing is good in there, and thats only for for brown bullhead. Brown bullhead can onlly be caught in the spring because they don't seem interested in biting at other times of the year. YOU WOULD BE better off fishing the des chenes rapids on the other side remember to wade out and use a life jacket. The hotspts in the rapids are the deep washout holes. so save you time and don't try mud lake. The only reason I fish mud lake is in the spring bass are out of season and the water flow make it unsafe to fish by the rapids.

Carp, cats, and pannies in Mud Lake. Saw a die off of carp in the spring there a few years back while we were working in the area.

Went out to Mud Lake last night. It looked like a sludgy puddle so I didn't even bother with it.

Parked at the filtration plant and went out into the Ottawa. My buddy and I waded out and found some pretty good spots. There were bass there for sure.

I pulled out two smallies around 1-2 lbs and had tons of bites. Sadly, darkness set in since we got there pretty late.

I'll for sure try it again sometime. It seems promising.

Thanks for the info everyone.
