I had a great time last week , been taking my brother in law , nephew and grand nephew the last 2 years on a camping trip , last year we got 3 lakers at 47-49 cm 's , under size and had to put them back .There was much complaining as who would know if we ate them right away and I had to explain the rules of fishing , I have no love for folks that break the rules .
Anyway this year we went last week , instead of late august , but man was it hot ! Our first day of fishing , morning shift and evening shift , produced 2 keepers , 1 for lunch and 1 for supper , plus a release . the boys were very happy and the wait of 2 trips for a legal trout made it even more exciting for them and the curse was lifted .the little guy called it the empty lake syndrome last year . Once the pressure was off we were able to enjoy the refreshing water and stay the hell out of the boat . The rain day was great as we went for pike during a break at mid day and casted , which for a 10 year old is a lot more fun than trolling .The pike were happy to help me out and we brought in 4 small pike in 90 minutes , biggest was 4lbs , all released to grow some more . The swimming was great , due to the heat I think I set a personal best for amount of time in the water as opposed to on it ! So I have gone from goat to outfitter in 1 year ! I never actually wet a line myself . I hope I have instilled an understanding of the rules and how special it is to be rewarded at some point , they mentioned that as they were stuffing their faces with trout

Very cool report, glad to see teaching the kids about the rules. And also glad to see you taking the kids out. Good job.
Cheers

Sorry that was at the Pem . They now appreciate the time ,effort and luck involved and that made it that much sweeter I think? They are already talking about next year . I got them both their own rods this year for x-mas so they did it all by themselves , except for some trolls and lures I provided and they didn't lose any of them :D
