Going to cross the border for only the 2nd trip in 2 years (too little!!). Was up at Newboro with some buddies - 2 years ago - and had very little catchin success. Should have expected this - since I had not discovered FH forum - yet!! You guys rock!

Will be on Newboro - next week with same buddies - and will try to add some sore lips to the SMB in the lake (C&R only!).

Would like any suggestions as to general fishing areas to focus on - and techniques to try.... this time of year on Newboro for SMB.

Understand the need for specific location secrecy....esp. with tournaments being on this lake. Also like to find my own special X spot (which probably moves daily!!) - part of the lure and feeling of satisfaction of a good day fishin.

Thanks for any help - to make our trip a bit more successful (but just getting out and fishin for a few solid days - is success in my book!).

I was on Newboro yesterday and it was an exercise in why it's called fishing and not catching.

There are some big fish being caught but the fish are off their normal patterns due to the high water temps.

I can only imagine what advice Dropshot'r might have given you but the name is your first clue.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Too bad the temperature has been so warm... but I think it is relative (I know the fish don't care... +80 surface is too warm). I am currently in South Carolina - and temperature has reach a sizzling +103F (39C) and 101F (38C) the past couple of days. Time to head north!! Virginia (home) has been +95F the past week with humidity up to 90% in the morning! Just step outside into the sauna.

Looking forward to the "cooler" temperatures and the challenges of Newboro fishin' this time of year.
