**UPDATED** Bass & Walleye Derby-Mississippi Lake Aug 28

Hi all!

I figured I would clean this post up a little and firm all the details up.

Here is what we are doing:

- $15 per person.
- No limit as to how many people can fish in a boat.
- Everyone in the boat must be in the derby.

- Biggest bass OR walleye wins.

After talking with some guys that know the lake, they agree that the biggest bass that gets pulled out of that lake would be as big as the biggest walleye that can be found there. So, rather than dilute the prize pool to keep it interesting... biggest fish wins.

Pay out as follows;

- 1st place gets 60%, 2nd gets 25%, 3rd gets 15%.

- Registration starts at 8am and trickle start at 9am

- Everyone must be back at town dock area by 3:30 if you wish to weigh in a fish.

Weigh in at the dock by... RJ!. The same scale will be used to keep it fair.
- No dead fish can be weighed in. Period.

Post event dinner at 5pm for prizes and chat at Busters Bar and Grill on HWY 7. Lots of parking for boats and decent food.

Thanks for all your help RJ!!

Confirmed Attending:

The simplest way fro Ottawa ...... highway 7 pass by highway 29 intersection, go over the train bridge to the first set of lights, Mississippi rd, turn right and follow all the way to Lake ave .... turn left and your basically there.
Don't forget there is a launch fee of $7.00 and it is STRICTLY ENFORCED !!!!!!

*Thanks Bear*

Thanks for replying Bear!

I did not know that there would be an ORWL event that day. Hopefully, there will be enough "Aprés Fish" going on that maybe you can all check out the aftermath!

Great initiative Craig. This is exactly what this community needs.

I'd think it may be of interest to the ORWL to dump the Ottawa that day to attend this....not a bad way to show your members what the secret walleye society is all about!

Birdee and I will be there.

This is a great idea, not all of our members will be fishing our event, we may be able to offer you some help, bodies to help with launching and organizing. send an email to info@orwl.ca or president@orwl.ca and we can try and work something out.
Good Luck with this from everyone at the ORWL.

I applaud Craig on organizing this.
Before committing, I would like to see more specifics -
eg
What are the rules to ensure fair play?
What are the proposed start-end times?
Is this live release?

Craig and I discussed this a bit before he made the jump to go ahead with it....which I hope flies and becomes a yearly thing....

The idea of just getting everyone together is paramount.....the "derby" aspect of it is an aside to it all really......noone will be obligated to do anything other than have a good time....all that is easy to make happen...

More details will come out I bet as Craig gets an idea on interest.....

And I will say this....KAYAKS are welcome!...

Looking forward to it fellas...

Good idea. Didn't vote yet but it's a possibility for me.

My questions will be,

- What are the hours?
- Rain or shine?
- Is this a team thing or an individual thing?
- Apres BBQ?

How 'bout that?!

The Yes option is out pacing the No option!!!!

This is great.

Like RJ said, this is a derby. The $ is kind of token... unless we end up with 50 people... but we will make sure that this stays as fair as possible.

As far as boats go... bring hip waders or a ship...
Out4trout wrote:What are the rules to ensure fair play?
I have some generic rules that I have tweaked to fit this event that are being proofed.
Out4trout wrote: What are the proposed start-end times?
I am looking at 9am blast off... and 3:30pm cut off. Weigh ins until 4pm.
Out4trout wrote: Is this live release?
As long as you can bring a live fish back for weigh in and release it alive... all is good. Dead fish are inadmissible... but yummy!
fatluke wrote:Why not NASA lake though??
There is a Quebec Provincial law that forbids gatherings of more than 6 unrelated English people at any one time anywhere in Quebec out side of Montreal's West Island.
