nova scotia vacation report (picture heavy)

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

nova scotia vacation report (picture heavy)

Post by Chevy Champagne »

well i just got back from my awesome vacation in nova scotia and i canot belive how beutifull it is up there
and there is also so many differnt options for fishing
in one day i caught my first brookie my first saltwater fish and fished for strippers
ALL IN ONE DAY
to much fun if you ask me 8)
well lets get to the point here

this was the creek i fished every mourning untill the tide came up and the biggest bonus was that it was a couple minutes away from my door step
Image

at first i was kinda skeptikle about trying it since i heard there were no fish in it but i went against my feelings and within 5 minutes i caught my first ever brookie
Image
Image

and after that it was game on since i knew there were fish in there i traveled for hours fishing different pools that all produced fish
Image

Image

and then i set the hook on one that had some decent weight and gave me an awesome fight brought him up and it was my new pb around 10 inches but couldnt get a pic cause it flipped out of my hand

i got over that quick though because me next cast into an under cut bank got me this monster of a brookie "to me"
11.5 inches of pure beuty
Image
Image

i know its not a monster atall compards to bass addicts freak of nature 7 pounder but for me it was an awesome fish comming out of the small stream

so i kept exploring and kept catching more and more specks with the average being around 6 to 8 inches

i absollutly fell in love with these fish and wadeing down the creek for them as you can see i caught alot of these little guys and all of them were caught on tubes

i tryed taking a few realese shots with the camera and here is the best

I also tryed fishing off the warf alot to try and catch a mackeral or something but i ended up with the uglyest looking fish i have ever seen

Image

i think it was called a skalpin

also fished a smal mouth lake 30 minutes away from the cottage that was apperintly LOADED with huge smallies

well it was loaded with smallmouth but nothing of any size
i caught about 20 of these guys
Image

i just could not locate any big fish so i decided to go snorkeling with the camera to see ifi could get lucky and film some bass

oh i was lucky alright
check them out

as you can see in the last one in the begining i pick up a jig in this next one the bass agressivly attacks the jig out of my hand twice i cant belive i got it on film if you didnt watch the last ones you need to watch this

Great report. Glad you found the brookies, didn't think there were any down at that end of the brook. Colours are great on those little guys.
Nice scalpin, my grandfather always said they looked like Diefenbaker.
Would have been nice to latch on to a striper. I liked your vids, that new camera is pretty cool.

Nice report. I love the videos, much more lively than pics.
And that fish looks devilish man.

Neat variety of fish ... what part of NS were you at? That is indeed a scalpin ... I've stepped on one swimming in the Bras D'or lake as a kid ... scared the heck out of me .. they blend into the bottom really well. What kind of tubes were you using for the brookies? I've only used worms, flies and trolled red devils ... ahh it's tough to beat fishing a brook ... you are always looking for the next pool, water is nice and clean and the little buggars can fight !!

Great post !!

Great report there. There is nothing I like better than walking a stream looking for brookies, especially in the east coast. Did you have any luck with the stripers?
