Gulp! Alive minnows, leeches, and crawlers might be worth looking into. They're relatively inexpensive compared to live bait, and they work! (FYI: $15.99 @ LeBaron right now for all tubs, including minnow variety tubs and single-type tubs)

If you freeze them straight with a little bit of salt, they stay pretty nice...If used for trolling slap a tooth pick in it so it stays nice and straight.

+1 on the Gulp Alive Minnows...

If you go that route DO NOT open the plastic clear wrap on the top of the bucket... cut a hole big enough for 2 fingers in the middle and reach in and grab your minnows that way.

Just saving you a really stinky tackle box/bag.

You took the words outof my mouth.I've had my best luck with the yellow & orange curly tail grub packs for some reason. For best luck ,I remarinate them every 5-10 min. They usually get bit best when first out of the pack during the first few casts.

they do get mushy when they thaw....bring a cooler and keep them frozen on ice. Works for me.

Why frozen? You can get minnows on the Foymount road just as you leave Eganville. Little place on the right at a house in the guys garage.

Good luck

What route are you taking to get to lake clear from Brantford? Might be able to point you in the right direction to fresh live minnows.
