Armed with notes of last year as well as last weekend's experience I headed back to my regular bass stomping grounds with a plan.

What's a little snow.

Straight to the money spot and in no time my buddy lands a solid 3 pounder (spinnerbait).
Image

Nice way to start the day and it got better only a couple cast later to the same area. This beauty nailed the same spinnerbait sitting on rocks in 3 feet of water.

Here is another shot of the beast.

She weighed in at 5lbs 1 oz and is my buddy's personal best.
Here is the pic of the release.

With the good spot used and abused we headed to a new offshore hump consisting mainly of flat rock but it had some weeds on it. Tops off at 8 feet surrounded by 35-50 feet and got this porker on a tube jig before heading to a numbers spot.

Image
I ditched the Buzz Lightyear gear for the photo but kept my michael jackson gloves on just for Justin Hoffman.

The numbers spot produced 3 or 4 bass in the 1-1.5 pound range which is the norm in that bay but also got 3-4 pike (all hammer handles).

Water temp at the launch was 42º but was 46º where most of the fish were caught. Spinnerbaits got the big fish and the tube got the numbers.

I think there should be a "nickel guarantee" for fishermen stalwart enough to venture out in winter chills for bass....then maybe this sissy would go.

Beautiful bass, Bl8ant. VERY impressive catches!

Yeah, it's close to that time but damn this week's weather looks good and I still have a couple of vacation days left. Convincing the bosses without 2 weeks notice however...

Been trying for a long time with little success and then this year; 6 Nickels in the boat—not all caught by me however.
