the hard-water season will soon be upon us. I was hoping to hear what peoples thoughts were about organizing several inner-board derbies throughout the winter. Depending on the level of interest, we would ideally want to have as many 2 to 4 or 5 person teams as possible.

The teams would compete every other weekend or so, for a small wager, points, braggin rites or all the above. At the finale the top 2 teams would then face off against the top teams from other fishing boards. It would be an EAST MEETS WEST for THE BATTLE OF THE BOARDS. At a neutral location to keep it geographically fisable.

There is already some interest on another board and i was prompted to throw the idea out on this site. I think this would be a blast and just another way to meet more people with the same interests, not to mention what a great team of anglers Fish-Hawk could send to represent such a fine board such as this.

So what do ya's think? or have i been out in the sun too long

Count me in. I love Ice fishing more than anything else. We can even use my fish hut for any of the aforementionned derbies.

Hey big-o, i thought you were going to say something like...."hey Slop, nevermind the ice fishing" "why don't you get out fishing and get us some points?"

To answer your question, i think boats should not be permitted  for the simple reason that this is an ICE fishing concept

The sooner i can nail this thing down....the better. I've already lined up lots of prizes(swag) for the winning team of each event. I welcome any input or feedback on this.

I would say LakeTrout has the concept down good, I've fished like that in Meaford 20 yrs ago from a 14 ft. You northern guys need to realize that down here the water doesn't get hard enough to walk on! Lake Simcoe didn't freeze 2 yrs ago, I'll say I'm in but I'll fish like that if need be otherwise I can only fish a couple of times through the season.
