Beat Up By A Couple Of Kids

Looks like the days at the "Love Canal" are over. The weeds are overgrown, the water has gone a cloudy white and the sight of a few carp carcasses meant it was finally time to move on. And so we did...
I headed out with my cousin in law and his son not far away from the "love canal". There was a pond where I hooked into a carp in the 10-15lb range only to realize I forgot the net at the campsite. Doh!
With the shore being a foot or two above the waterline, I had a thought... "Maybe I can heave it up on shore the same way the bass guys do when they bring their fish into the boat?" ...I quickly realized it was not going to happen and that I was a dumbass for thinking I could even think about trying to do that.
Out came the hook and the carp was gone.
Figuring that fishing without a net wasn't a good idea we headed back for lunch.
After lunch, we decided to try an entirely new area and this time I brought the little man with me. ...and the net!
After getting set up and firing out some corn, the baitrunner is zippin' away...
First fish, my cousin in law's son hooks into this 28.5lber!
Awesome fat fish!

Not to be outdone, his father follows up with one... Not as big but still fairly hefty at 17.6lbs.

No fish for me at this location but I had fun watching the little man reeling in a few perch and I think he enjoyed it too!

The next day we all headed back to the same spot just after breakfast. By the time we packed up just before lunch, we ended up with three solid runs but the fish would find their way off the hooks and we never got to see them.
As a group we did not get skunked however!
My little man saved the day by hooking up with a few fish including this double header... on one cast!

The adults took a beating from the kids in this round. It was a fun weekend!
Speaking of weekends... Are we there yet?
Cheers!
