I am looking to fish for big Pike, over the 10 lbs range in the Renfrew county area. Any ideas as to where to go. I have fished several lakes but can't seem to lacate any in the 10 lbs + range. All I seem to catch for the past several years are hammer handles and nothing much bigger than 5 lbs. Any advise on where to go is greatly appreciated. All I ever fish id live release.

how are you targeting them? and what baits are you using?

Good luck finding 10# pike. They are long gone in this area for a variety of reasons. You will have to go north. A five pound pike is considered a big one now around here. I know where there are larger ones but I won't tell anyone until I know how they C&R.

Ottawa River. Most under used fishery around. And you might just tap in to a large Muskie as well. I would think that Centennial Lake must have big fish as well.

Bobfly,how are you going to tell how well they release? If you really want to know just ask Moosebunk. He has caught hundreds of large PIke.

Here's one from your neck of the woods on the Ottawa river. jus a lil over 10

I disagree, while double digits are obviously not as common as they once were, 5-7lb pike are quite frequent around here.
I see a few 8-10# northerns caught locally every year, with occasional 12# kickers mixed in. Anything north of 8 is a good one here.

Love to help ya a little more with better local pike spots. Snoopin' into the PQ from Ottawa might be best for numbers of better sized fish. Don't fish them much around here as pretty well every year for the rest of my life, there will be a far north trip dedicated to chasing them. Awesome fish, and "in their northern element," the Lennox Lewis of esox, to the Mike Tyson muskie.
