I notice not too many people congratulating or commenting on fishing reports here nowadays.

Some posts have 3-4 congrats to over 100 views.

Has this place changed THAT much in my abscence?

Used to be this place was FULL of fishing reports....

It's not just you Jimmy, I've noticed that as well over the last few years. Not as many fishing reports and definitely not not as many congrats on fishing reports as there used to be. Why you ask? Who the heck knows?

We agree.... not much else to say - things have changed.

Where have all the Bird Pics gone ??

I will give my insight but I am not too sure what others think. I love congratulating people on a good catch but I also like to be one of the first. The reason being that there only so many times I want to scroll through an "awesome day" or "nice fish" comments. If what I wanted to write has already been done, I jut won't write anything

As for reports, I think there are only a handful of people who write them up. I for one am guilty of not doing so. But it is more because of my less than stellar catches than anything else. I dont know how many people want to see ten pictures of 2 pound bass...Not to mention my phone plan is my Internet which is great for surfing but terrible for downloading pictures to fish-hawk.

13 of the first 16 posts in Fishing Talk are fishing reports of some kind so I guess I'm confused as to what people expect to see here.

All message boards have taken a step back since Facebook has emerged. Things happen so fast now and not as many people sit down to write reports as they used to for whatever reason. It is what it is.

I totally agree lape0019. I am much more likely to post on nice fish if it's near the beginning of a thread unless I can throw some sort of twist into it. Except for Moosebunks' epic tales of course. You can never say too much about them. And it' doesn't have to be always for huge fish anyway. Sometime good quantities and personal achievements are just as important to many and are worthy of congrats.

I also think you're being too modest Adam. With the coin you shell out on high end gear I highly doubt that only 2 lb. bass are being caught. Cheers

There are bigger fish being caught, that is for sure. But I don't always have a camera or take a picture. The one report I actually typed up I had purposely taken a pic of every bass caught that day. It didnt matter if it was half a pound or more a picture was taken. That day was one of my better days with over 18 fish in the boat.

I agree with RJ as well. Facebook really slowed boards like this down. I personally do not have a FB Account and don't really plan on it. Sometimes I think about it just because of some if the deals fishing manufacturers offer through it, but then I would have to deal with people who I really don't want to deal with. If I haven't talked to you since high school, there is probably a reason...

And to be fair, there are quite a few members here that spend way more than me on gear. I only have 7 combos so I it's not as bad as it may seem and the core/Dobyns extreme is my pride and joy. I don't know if I will ever do anything like that again, but when you only have to pay for half (the core was a gift), it makes it a hell of a lot easier to swallow. The rest of my combos are nowhere near as pricey...

I used to visit here a lot more before the latest crash. I feel like we lost a lot of traffic due to it and am posting fewer reports since then. that's just me though. I also check less frequently, down from twice a day to maybe twice a week or so.
