Great reply Chrome I taught you well

But also Gone, you can also use live dew worms which are very efective, maggots for spooky fish in clear water and this is a prob you will be faced with often

The fish tend to run up their migratory rivers to spawn sometimes feed (this is salmon)and eventually die off.You will notice the salmon you are catching are a brownish coulor and that is when they r in the spawning mode. The salmon will move in pending on weather fronts by early to mid sept,a small or large run at a time. You can expect to see alot of people on the water using many different techs for these fish. When eventually the salmon begin to slow down or are in full spawn in the tribz the browns will move into spawn and feed on the neglected salmon roe. This is your best chance at a shore brown(big ones too)Then will follow the steelhead behind the browns(Though you can go out and get a mixed bag in Sept the best is to watch the run of fish)Your best bet for a fall bow is Brown trout roe,I say this because it is like gold in the fall to winter the chromers just gobble it up!second is salmon roe all fish will take it and is your best 2nd choice (if fishing roe bags)Steelhead are generally a spring spawn fish and tend to shy away from their own spawn in the fall but there is a few fall spawners that may take it,the best is leave the rainbow roe for the spring.Artaficials range from flies as Chrome has said,in the fall brown and olive wooly buggers are better for salmon and darker flies all around are good to start with. When in high stained water upsize your worm, roe bag,or anybait you r usin, same if fishing deep pools where the fish cannot be seen.Clear water try to downsize and find fish in holes, pockets rapids that arent to spooky, also look for a place where not to many other fisherman are.
About this time of year is early for them and in the next few weeks you can try tossing spoons (little cleos, williams and so on)off the piers of the big pond. For this 10lb line all the way to the spoon is fine but you will need a longer rod to fight em in the bigger water,a 10 1/2 will do just fine.
Any specific area you need info on Ill be happy to send you in the right direction, you may want to travel a little bit other than right in T.O a 1/2 hr to a 3 hr drive could mean the difference of a good day.
Also it would be best to invest in a pair of hip waders to walk the rivers, creeks and be able to get to certain spots easier.
Your best spot to try to get set up would be Tightlines in Pickering, great staff and not to far of a drive from T.O,also they have a great selection to get started and will fill you full of knowledge aswell
