anyone fishing the st.Lawrence?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

anyone fishing the st.Lawrence?

Post by Scotty Chaos »

Hey guys...its been a good 8years since I last posted, and have slayed a lot of fish in that time throughout B.C, Alberta, and Ontario. That said its nice to be back on the forums reading other peoples stories etc... Just looking for general information on ice fishing the st.Lawrence from around Prescott heading east towards Cornwall. Just wondering how the Walters are on the stretch of the river, and if there are good numbers...

Thanks,

Scott

You'll be happy to hear Scotty that the walter population in the Larry is alive and well. Spring and fall provides some stellar action and although I don't really target them in the summer I catch my fair share of incidentals while dragging drop shots for smallies in 15-30ft of water. There aren't many spots other than the Long Sault area that I'm aware of that freeze well enough to really get into them through the ice. But if you're brave enough to launch the boat you could surely hammer a few. Also I was told by the good folks at Carpins in Ingleside that the parkway is now closed to vehicles through the winter which hinders access and to make matters worse they informed me that the seaway is attempting to keep the shipping channel open all winter. Not sure they picked the best winter for that! Cheers

I fished Hooples Creek last Saturday, with only a few perch caught. Lots of perch on the camera ,they just weren't biting yet. A good 14-16 inches of ice.
