Hey folks,
Whats the best way to rig spoons to go weedless.
Also, any suggestions on some good weedless pike lures?
Thanks

Replace the treble on a spoon with a bait keeper hook, and place some plastic (grub, worm, tube) on the hook.

I like SteveG idea, or even just swapping out those weeds catchin' trebles in favor of some weedless hooks with weed-guards.
The real sad news, nothing is truly weedless.
Good luck.

I've had good luck with the weedless Rapala minnow (largest size) and put a nice twister tail grub on the hook... there's also weedless dardelves.

Pike also love weightless Texas-rigged plastics -- sluggos, flukes, fat worms and giant grubs. I've done better with lighter colors for pike.

Get rid of the treble hooks and go with siwash (sp?) hooks

big single hook spinnerbaits or topwater baits have worked for me

Well to be honest all scum frogs, rats, tourney frogs, generally anything that is ment for bass in the slop will call the pike aswell. You can take a big slug-o,senko,or anytype of plastic with no weight and skip it acroos the weeds and will work great asweel, though the bonus is you will get big bucket mouths aswell
Also you may try a buzz bait if you are fishing scattered weeds on top or pencil weeds and drag er through.A buzzbait is designed with the hook curved upwards to make it more weedless than a spinner bait.Big buzz baits are better aswell.
And lastly if you are fishing shore line weeds try hitting the weed edge if it drops off or not by using a spinnerbait for they will cut through weed better also try a texas rigged senko with no weight and use it as a jerk bait and twitch er back to the boat

Some sure fire ways to get em in or on the outskirts of heavy weeds.

My G.F tought me a trick
take some line 4lb or less tie it to your hook below the barb.tie the other end to your eyelit,Know take your knife and shave it down,Gently.
now you have a weadless hook. Works on all styels of hooks.
I leav the line a littel loos ,Fish bit and snap the line.Set the hook and you are done.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news , but not many decent sized pike to be had in the weeds at this time of year. Pike prefer cold water, esp. larger pike over 24". for the most part all you will catch in the weeds now are hammerhandles. IMO I'd rather not handle those slimey little buggers.
Go deep for large pike with plugs trolled in 25' or more water. Look for those big hooks on the sonar around the baitfish.

fishhit,... i disagree,,, pike can be found in the shallow whenever there is green weeds and bait in the weeds. Just last week we caught a 31" and a 39" pike in very shalow water right in the junk

I'll disagree as well...they can be everywhere!....not necessarily deep water....

As I said," not many decent sized pike...,". I never said no decent sized pike. As with all fishing there can be no hard and fast rules. I do however stand by my belief that the larger pike do for the most part leave the shallows in the heat of summer for cooler water that is more suitable to thier physiology.

Get a Johnson Silver Minnow and buy some Uncle Josh bass strip in white to use as a trailer. The Silver Minnow needs a trailer. The lure planes over emergent vegetation and wobbles like a spoon should through weeds. Sharpen the hook and make sure the weed prong extends past the hook point. Use at least 14 lb line. The heavier line will make it easier to pull pike out of the weeds and will keep the bait riding higher in the weeds. Pike are not much for high floating lures. They will hit topwater but usually only if the lure is rides low in the surface.
I agree with the poster about small pike in shallow weeds this time of the year. You'll likely catch far more bass this time of the year anyway.
