Muskrat lake report

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Muskrat lake report

Post by fishin mission »

Fished Muskrat Lake in Cobden this Saturday the weather was sunny and warm but high winds which forced us to set up the tent and heater and fish inside. Managed a 20" Laker weighing in at 3.5 lbs. Laker was caught on a gold Cleo spoon with a half orange front. Some people around us caught some Lakers too one guy a 7.5 pounder and another a 4 lb fishing was slow but a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work...lol Fish was released right into the oven with orange and lemon slices and half went to making fish patties on Sunday . YUM YUM !!

Sounds like a blast, beats work anyday! We were there Sunday. No wind for us but also no lakers. Lots of sunburns to go around though haha.

Good to hear somebody is getting the odd laker out of muskrat, it has been slow for me the last year.
I have to agree on the eating part other than the oven trick. I like mine outa there with club house English style batter
and the deep fryer. waiting for the open water to go after the early laker fishin.

Good luck out there. Crazy weather patterns happening with a cold front coming through Saturday afternoon. Don't forget your white tube jigs. Cheers

Yep it'll take a lot more than a bit of unfavorable weather to stop me from fishin. I'd rather sit in the truck staring at a rod/tip up with the chance of getting a fish than sit on the couch all day anytime!!

"C & R" = Cook and Roast?

Glad you had some success...and a tasty meal or two.

Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.
