Ice season and Wishful thinking

Seems ages ago the hand auger was first piercing the ice for the first time this season. Nov 29 was a first for me, who would've thought, ice fishing in Nov! I was so pumped to have the ice season here. Now months later, The hand auger long put away and the extension almost ready to go onto the gas auger, I am left with one thought....When can I launch?
First couple outings were in pursuit of speckles.

Then onto some early ice walleye. On a -42 ( windchill ) day was my best walleye bite, icing 26 and my buddy icing 9 in 2hrs.
A full day to thaw out though!

Some days on Quinte. We were lucky enough to all catch fish each trip. Gold spoons and Perch colored Buck-Shots were hot for us.
Hook-n-Shoot

Some nights at the shack with my Son.

Laker fishing with Hook-n-Shoot and my Son

Travel and conditions to and from the back lakes this season has forever been changing and there has been more than one trip made with-out wetting a line because of the amount of snow or not being able to make it all the way into a lake that I was at a week earlier. My last two trips have been like this. I call these days " Learning an area better just shy of where you want to be!"
I know there is still a lot of ice fishing left...and I still like ice fishing....but after some of the conditions this year, I have to at least wonder why sometimes. So, I go back and look to see what I was doing this week last year.

It didn't help!
