Still haven't put my heart into using Senko's yet but I don't know what to think after what I saw today. On Charleston I hooked a 3lb smallmouth. He/she fought like blazes as they always do. At the boat as it turned to bull to bottom it threw up a large pinkish senko that was partially digested! I pumped it up off bottom then at the boat it turned and dove again AND IT UPCHUCKED A SMALL SIZE SENKO! Again pinkish and partially digested.

I landed the bass and it seemed in excellent condition.

Is it a good thing that fish eat these things? I fish with a guy who often tosses his mangled plastic worms in the lake. I'm sure lot's have done this...I normally keep mine to throw out later but I've done it without thinking. What happens to discarded senko's? Can they be digested by fish?

I should clarify....by partially digested I mean they were whole and intact. The rings were visible just below the surface where I saw them before they sank into the depths. They had lost there translucency and glitter and were flat pink like bubble gum or an eraser.

Hey ganman..that is the normal color for those...Bubblegum is actually what the colour is called...
I don't believe Senkos are bad for the fish...

put it this way guys!! Gone fishin loves senko's... not even real senkos, the knock offs.. we were fishing a tourney last sunday and at noon, i had not boated a single fish, while tony had filled the livewell with bass!!

He coaxed me into putting one on, and I caught two of our biggest fish!!!
Ireally get frusterated using these baits, but when it comes down to it, i know it works !!

Definately some of the best baits ever.....Wacky style!!

Had to morgage my house due to the amount of Senko's shipped from Cabela's last time, and I filled my boots when I was at their store in Hamburg!
Can never have to my baits!

Soft plastics probably don't hurt the fish unless they are big enough for a smaller fish to choke on it.

(Have seen pictures of dead pike that tried to swallow walleye half or more their size)

But given that they will take a long, long time for these lures to break down in the water, I think it's a bad idea to throw ripped tubes, worms, whatever in the water. Same thing with old fishing line. It'll accumulate with time and then the bottom of the lake'll be as littered as some of our city streets.

We keep a plastic grocery bag in the boat or canoe for all this stuff and throw it out on our way home.
