Last night at my kids soccer game I as chatting with the parent next to me. This person is an OPP officer out of Rockland. I mentioned that I saw an OPP boat on the Ottawa by Petrie Island last week and asked if it was one of theirs. To my complete surprise, the reply was that the boat I saw was from Hawksbury.

Apparently, the only police boats on the Ottawa, at least laucnhing from the Ontario side, are from Hawksbury. Hawksbury is close to about 100 kms from Ottawa. I was pretty surprised. The Ottawa is a major major waterway and there is literally no one patrolling it from Ottawa to Hawksbury. And ya wonder why there are enforcement problems....

I don't think that is very likely. I don't think i would beleive all the things you hear fromthose soccer playing, policing, fishing, talking people.

Keep in mind that there is the Ottawa Police Marine Unit and the O.P.P. S.A.V.E. Unit as well.

The Ottawa Police patrol it in the west end of Ottawa, and it reverts back to OPP up around Arnprior.

My Cousin is actually one of the people that usually man the boat.
Basically all summer, he spends his days on the boat. And he patrols from te Dam in Carillion, to Ottawa (East)
