Get lost ice!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Get lost ice!

Post by bradford2 »

Seems this is the day for ice fishing wrap ups. Might as well be for myself as well.

What can I say about Ice 2015... except that I'm glad it's over? Struggled finding the time to get out, and on the days that I could winter mostly kicked my arse. Still, here are the highlights.

Spent only a couple days targeting eyes at Quinte. Filled a cooler with eaters, but no big ones showed up. Luckily the incidental walleye action at home was very good this year.

Also did a couple mornings on the slabs. Filled out a limit between the two days, but the real fun was pulling an 18+ pound largie bag through a 6" hole in 45 minutes. I had to move areas completely to get away from them

Image

Did a few hours of solid hook setting across the river. As fun as it is, I doubt I'll pay to play over there next year

And then there were the lakers. Last year I was flat out spoiled with these fish. This year was still a good one, but fell well short. Half a dozen trips on the ice, a dozen fish in total, and only 4 of them memorable. Each one a huge rush, it's easy to see why these fish are so popular.

And lastly, the fish I'd trade them all for. The fish of the whole season. On an un-characteristic tour in the trout hills, my very lucky buddy caught this. I did NOT catch this, yet it was the most excited I've been on the ice in a long long time. Just a crazy, crazy experience for both of us haha!

That pretty much wraps things up. Come on summer!

Thanks guys!

It was a good season just a bit of a grind. Would have liked to get out more, but that's getting harder to do with the kids and work lol.

Anyway, doesn't matter, my summer vacations are booked, and am looking forward to smashing some fish. I'm expecting the kids to be very into it this year!

Seemed like lots of smaller fish caught this year on BOQ were smaller on average least in our group. The slabs are fun sounds like some solid action I only fished them once this year. The Lakers are great the Brown is awesome! Have a great summer B!
