Catching your limit

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Catching your limit

Post by Jo3yjo3y11 »

Hey guys new to the site and just had a question for you guys. Is the limits set on the regulations per fishing trip or per year? I was just wondering and I always practice catch and release anyways but if someone could let me know just for future reference that would be great.

Limits are expressed as in your possession. Technically, if your limit is 6 and you have three in the freezer at home you should stop when you catch three more. But realistically I don't think anyone is going to check your freezer unless you are suspected of regularly over fishing.

Possession Limits and Daily limits are not always the same. Just have a good look at the catch limits for the zones you're fishing in before heading out. If you dont have a copy of the regs, it's available online too.

You should also be careful on zone boundaries when moving around as the limits may change.

So if your on a multi day trip and catch your limit each day (and are not eating them for some reason) would you be over the possession limit?
