I know that this isnt strictly a fishing topic but I am looking at getting a used 4 wheeler. Needs to be 4x4, I would like somthing strong enough to haul me and my wife around as well as a sled with a power auger and some geer and am looking at around 5 to 7 thousand price range. ANy suggestions on makes or models. I've been told that Yamaha and Honda are the best and to stay away from Bombardier. Any suggestions from you ATVers out there would be appreciated.
Thanks

Bombardier's Outlander 400 was given the 2003 (or was it 2004?) ATV of the year by ATV magazine. It's $10,000 though, a little out of yours (and way outta my) price range
That aside, I've never had a problem with any Hondas I've ridden (I've only ridden two, but have never heard any complaints about Hondas). Polaris has a new ATV which they call the ATP (All Terrain Pickup) which is an ATV with bed that can carry up to 500 lbs.
You might also want look into a vehicle like the John Deere Gator or Kawaski Mule and the like. I used a Gator 4x2 at the golf course I used to work at, it's more like a pick up truck with two seats and a hydraulic bed (The Gator I used could haul 500 lbs in the bed, the 4x4 and 6x4 Diesel could haul 750 and 1000 lbs. respectively). They're a bit larger than an ATV though.

ATV's
Its a buyers market for used ATV's... All the companys quads are pretty much equal now... I am partial to Honda's and Kawasaki's, shop around and you can get quite a machine for alot less than you think... check out www.atving.com
I myself have had nothing but good to say about my Honda Forman. I use it daily in the winter for my hut rentals on Lake Scoogog. I have used other chain & belt driven Quads proir and found that the shaft drive system handles the snow-slush and cold climate better. Now if we get alot of snow on the ice then i find that the gound clearance was my biggest problem. The Artic Cat out performed them all in these conditions

My friend has a Polaris Sportsman 500 and he's been having a few problems with it. He does lots of towing and touring with it so it does have a few kms; however, it seems everytime we get a weekend to go touring it seems to be broken.
On the other hand, my other friend has has a Honda and he says its been an awesome machine. Lasted him several years and he used it alot around the farm. I've heard several people highly recomend Hondas.
