To the folks that fish a particular spot along the 401 corridor for carp.

We were out yesterday and while fishing had a drone circle over us for a good 20 mins or so.

Was weird.

This normal for this area now?

Could you tell how big it was? If it's small, it could be someone's recreational drone. The U.S. does routine drone surveillance along the St. Lawrence river, but these are larger aircraft (wingspan of 65ft).

It's the year of the drone. Will be seeing more and more of these as recreational use is becoming very popular.

There is a gentleman in that area who uses one for pictures.
he has a website.

It was a small drone indeed. Neat to see. Even if you feel your privacy is invaded.

No such thing as privacy when you're in public I'm afraid.
Drone tech is very cool, I've considered building one from scratch for myself. And a photographer friend has thought about getting one to do shots of buildings for new condos, etc.

Not sure why? I upload them here but have no photobucket account!

Funny story....
My drag was a bit too tight on the rod....
I was feeding my son a bottle and the beeper starts going off....
Set him down gently and just caught my rod pod and rod before it went too far into the water....

Beepers act crazy funny when soaked....almost went over the ledge and lost in the deep...

The drone was far away and the camera zoom was insufficient.

5lbs and under, no paper work is needed.
It’s my understanding that 5lbs and above you need to submit papers to Transport Canada.
You must avoid crowded areas and airports.
