Greetings Fish-Hawkers,
I confess I have not posted in quite some time...so what is my penance RJ & Luke ? I don't have time to make a Bunk-like report, but thought I'd share a few pics from a recent trip to the Tampa area with some old high school buddies. I love the saltwater and I'll leave it at that. Cheers and enjoy the pics before the winter onslaught !
Pics of our inshore and offshore boats for the week:
Catching bait with a cast net and something called a sabiki rig was fun:
If I lived in Florida I'd fish for Tarpon, Snook, Sea Trout and Redfish all year. The Snook are the smartest/wariest fish on the planet though:
Had a blast casting inshore for Sea Trout with suspending Mirrolures:
In my lifetime I'd only ever been "spooled" once...and that was on a Lake Erie breakwall by a huge Sheepshead. Well here is number two & three. We think they were king mackerel, but we'll never know now:
One small shark and many rays:
We mostly fished the Tampa Bay shipping channel edges for mangrove snapper, grouper and mackerel with some success and many grouper losses (they get you in the rocks or take you over the channel edge and cut you off - smart and strong fish:
Grouper Delight!
Other odds and ends from the trip:
What a great trip being with old friends, sharing many laughs and pops, and enjoying the diversity of the saltwater environment! We hope to make this an annual event.
Cheers, tight lines, and Happy Remembrance/Veteran's Day!
Jeff

Great report Ratsotail!
You just don't see pics of those types of fish here very often!

Re: Florida Fun
Wow! Nice fish! Looks like you had a great time.
Re: Florida Fun
Thanks for sharing that Jeff! Saltwater truly rules all fishing, those fish are nuts.
Great to hear from ya.
