If I was planning on going to the Ottawa river this weekend... Am I wasting my time and freezing my butt off for nothing??? Still pretty green when it comes to Muskie fishing, but don't want to give up for the year without givin it one last chance! Any advice would be great!! Thanks

Anytime you fish musky you risk spending all day washing lures.....

Best bet is to use larger baits and troll between 3.5 and 5mph as they are fattening up and conserving energy for the long winter.

Cast to wherever you still see weeds and points. I usually slow my retrieve to about 3/4 what I do in the summer.

Best of luck!

Big R,
After 7-8 days targeting muskie and not seeing a fish, I was about to forego muskie hunting for all time and content myself with fishing for less elusive species. I then landed a 50" (posted picture on Fish-hawk) toothy beast! What a thrill! Gotta say, it was worth the days "washing lures". (LOL Great expression).
Savour the late season day on the water and good luck!
