Opener Question

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Opener Question

Post by Rex Mundi »

It has been some time since I have posted and since there has been many changes to the site I thought I would make my way back to see if things have improved.

My question is if you had one lake or river to hit for the Pike or Walleye opener which one would it be. I am looking for something within 45 minute drive of Kanata. I have boat so all I need is a launch. I am not looking for secret spots maybe some lakes that I may not have tried before.

There's a name from the past! Wow!

45 mins from Ottawa you are pretty limited really. Mississippi Lake or Clayton Lakes are likely your best bets within that distance!

Not that I've caught many walleyes out of there but Mississippi is a nice place.

If you want nice pike i would hit the Mississippi river system. I (as i would say in the other post) crushed plenty of pike in the river. I find they like the color orange.

Agreed that mississippi lake is the best bet. If you're fishing the river be aware of sanctuaries. If you're looking for a good pike lake with the potential for big crappie you could hit up constance lake, however there are no walleye there. Dalhousie Lake is also an option.

Clayton taylor. Go shallow, go after dark or before sunrise. :-)

And like RJ said.... welcome back Rex.

Things have definitely changed, and improved from the past.

Good to hear from you again, and hope you stick around.
