Windy Fishing with aid of my MK Terrova

Spent Monday, 6/6/16 on the Mississippi with T.C. chasing walleye
You know what the weather was like, just a slight breeze....NOT unbelieveable gusts at times.
Darn near had the bow under white caps a few times.
As we came into CP one bassboat was already leaving too windy rough.
We toughed her out all day total count 15 eyes, 5 over slot 5 dinner guests, 5 deformed eyes tails to close to head.
Let'e put it this way, If I didn't have my Minn Kota Terrova this day would not have lasted as long as it did.
On water at 9:00 am off at 4:00pm got to a WP set SPOT LOCK and stayed very close and caught fish.
Even the trusty jerkbait was working.
Batteries took a lot longer to charge last night, they got quite a work out yesterday.

I pilot is a great tool. Spot lock is by far what I use the most but the record a track and advanced autopilot are great additions as well.

The only draw back I could find is the speed the head turns. I've gotten used to it over the years and it doesn't bother me as much as it once did but it is definitely worth the price regardless.

Spot Lock on trolling motors is the greatest invention to hit fishing in the last 10 years.

Congrats on a good day on the walleye. I love my I-pilot and use the spot lock all the time instead of the anchor. Next upgrade will be the new Minn Kota with auto deploy.

After fishing on Monday in those slightly breezy conditions I wish I had the M.K. Ulterra.
I was up and down moving around from spot to spot.
There were times I wasn't sure if I was staying in the Lund or going for a swim.
The Ulterra has to be the greatest piece of equipment developed.
Auto deploy, store, track and spot lock...what else do you need?
Power poles were nice but no good in 30 ft. holding on humps.
I can see a lot of guys going with a quick change plate on the bow and using a M.K. Fortrex for Shallow, weedy conditions and changing to the Ulterra for Big deeper, current conditions like St. Lawrence river or lake Ontario conditions.

I may do that one day. I love my dad's Ipilot but I also like my Fortrex

I actually went with the quick release bracket but don't see a need to have two trolling motors. If the day ever comes though, I'm already setup for it. The next boat will have a quick release bracket as well. Makes it a lot easier if work on the TM needs to be done. The downside to the Terrova is that the whole unit needs to be brought in for service as it does not attach from the mount.

Those are some serious numbers of walleye for that lake Brian, especially given the conditions.

Kudos to you for braving out the conditions and succeeding.

People don't know what they're missing on the Mississippi.
It has to be one of the better locations close to Ottawa.
Great panfish body of water Crappies, Blue Gill Red Ears, Perch.
We've caught walleyes up to 8 lbs. in this lake, also caught pike over 5lbs.
Then there is the small mouth bass and our favourite green trout, large mouth bass.
There's lots of water to fish them in from 2 feet to 30 feet with many different structures.
