Looks like fake news to me. Your camera was setup pointing towards your fish just laying on the ice, just looks like you were feeding it, which I think is illegal.

It's illegal to Abandon fish or permit the flesh to spoil, if the fish is suitable for human consumption.

Cool vid for the bald eagle, they are an amazing bird.

I agree with Wallyboss though; it's disingenuous, and probably not legal as you were baiting that bird - just waiting for the perfect clickbait freeze frame by the looks of it.

I've left my fish on the ice a million times in my life and never had an eagle attack it. To say this guy planned it is kind of ridiculous ……. Did he see an eagle circling and leave the camera pointed at his fish? We'll never know. But to blame him for breaking the law is a little extreme. I'm not saying its okay, but, if I seen an eagle circling me and my fish i'd probably get the camera ready too.

I gotta agree with wayde34, with the simple fact I've left my fish out on the ice while ice fishing and if a hungry eagle was above me I'd probably grab my camera too ( which I always have) . There a beautiful bird, for you guys to accuse this guy to do something illegal based on his video with no proof Isnt cool... He's done nothing wrong but post a great video of the natural occurrence of nature that's rarely caught on video, and I doubt the fact that he left that pike out to spoil as it is the winter time and that pike wouldn't spoil in the winter. Great video thanks for post!!!

You realize wayde you just said you would bait the bird. If you actually cared about keeping the fish you could just cover it.

"if I seen an eagle circling me and my fish i'd probably get the camera ready too."
Pretty evident.
You leave an attractant out to have an opportunity.
That is pretty much the definition.
Granted, you didn't say you were going out on the ice and throwing pike around, but taking advantage of an accidental opportunity.

I'd set my favorite cat free out on the ice if I thought an eagle would grab it on camera!!

Maybe he set that camera up with the fish as bait to see if he could catch a cougar on film?
