Looking at a map of the area today and noticed the Indian river that runs
through Almonte. Has anyone fished this at all? If so what species would there be - it looks like it would probably hold some smallmouth etc but never having been there I can only guess. thoughts?

I've fished it quite a few times.Mostly has smallies on the small side, a few large mouths also fairly small and hammer handle sized pike. Not really much for the serious fisherman, but fun to fish with kids because of the abundance of small fish and it's safe water for a canoe.

Thanks for taking the time to answer. Exactly what I wanted to know. I think I will give this a pass then.

I fished there once about 25 years ago around the Mill of Kintail (SP??)

Smallmouths, rockbass, fallfish.

If you like flyfishing, it would be a fun river to fish. The fish are on the small side, butits a small river.

Nothing there now. Rumour had it that it was once stocked with speckles. Too bad because it is a nice looking little river with quite a few access points. If this was New York state or any place that really cared about conservation, it would be loaded with trout.
